Have you read about ViaBTC? Have you also read about GoMining? A lot of people ask us the same question after that. Which one is better?
That question has a twist. ViaBTC and GoMining are not really doing the same job. One is a mining pool. The other is an app. And here is the fun part: GoMining can actually use ViaBTC behind the scenes. They are not always rivals. Sometimes they are teammates.
Let’s break down what each one does, how the money works, and which one may fit your own goals.
What ViaBTC Actually Is
ViaBTC is a big Bitcoin mining pool. A pool is a group of miners who join their mining power together. As a group, they find Bitcoin blocks far more often than one miner alone.
But here is the key part. ViaBTC does not give you mining power. You have to bring your own. That means real hardware, like an ASIC miner or a small lottery miner. You point that hardware at ViaBTC. Then ViaBTC pays you your fair share of what the pool earns.
ViaBTC pays miners in a few different ways. These include PPS+, FPPS, and PPLNS. Each one changes how steady your daily payout feels, and how big the pool’s fee is. We cover all of that in Mining Pool Fees Explained.

What GoMining Actually Is
GoMining works in a very different way. You do not need to buy or plug in any hardware at all. Instead, you buy a “digital miner” inside the GoMining app.
A digital miner is a claim on a small slice of a real ASIC miner. That real miner sits in a real data center, run by GoMining’s team. It mines Bitcoin all day, every day. Your digital miner earns you a share of what that real hardware brings in. You never see the machine, hear it, or fix it yourself.
GoMining takes out a maintenance fee before it pays you. You can pay that fee in Bitcoin, or you can pay it using GoMining’s own token for a discount. Either way, the fee comes out before the Bitcoin lands in your account.

The Big Difference: Hardware vs. No Hardware
This is really the heart of it. ViaBTC needs your own mining hardware. GoMining does not.
- With ViaBTC, you own real machines. You pay for power. You handle setup, noise, heat, and repairs.
- With GoMining, you skip all of that. You buy a digital miner, and someone else runs the real hardware for you.
If you enjoy the hands-on side of mining, ViaBTC fits that path. You get full control of your own gear. If you just want easier exposure to Bitcoin mining, without machines or repairs, GoMining fits that path instead.
The Twist: GoMining Can Use ViaBTC
Here is the part most comparisons miss. GoMining is not one giant machine sitting alone. Behind the scenes, it spreads its mining power across a few real mining pools. ViaBTC is one option GoMining users can pick, alongside pools like Binance Pool and Foundry.
So a GoMining user could technically be plugged into the same pool as a ViaBTC hardware miner. GoMining just handles the hardware, the pool choice, and the daily payout for you. It sits one layer above the pool itself. We dig deeper into that connection in ViaBTC Revenue Sharing, Explained.
How the Fees Compare
Both options charge a fee. They just charge it in different ways.
- ViaBTC charges a pool fee. This fee depends on the payout method you choose, and it usually lands somewhere between 0% and 4%.
- GoMining charges a maintenance fee. This fee covers the real-world cost of running the hardware, like electricity and repairs, so you never have to handle those costs yourself.
Fees on both sides can change over time. Always check each company’s own current fee page before you decide anything.
Which One Should You Pick?
There is no single right answer for everyone. It really depends on your own goals.
- Pick ViaBTC if you already own mining hardware, or you plan to buy some, and you want full control over your setup.
- Pick GoMining if you want a simple way to gain Bitcoin mining exposure, without buying, running, or fixing any machines.
- Some people use both. They run their own hardware through ViaBTC, and they also hold a GoMining digital miner on the side.

The Honest Take
ViaBTC and GoMining are not really fighting for the same job. ViaBTC is the plumbing that hardware miners plug into. GoMining is a simpler front door for people who do not want to touch the plumbing at all.
Neither one is magic. Your results still depend on Bitcoin’s price, how hard the network is to mine, and the fees you pay along the way. Those three things move all the time, and nobody can control them.
